Preparation of high purity Molybdenum electrode

As one of the important components in the glass industry, the purity of molybdenum electrode not only affects its own service life, but also directly affects the quality of the glass produced, mainly reflected in the impurities will lead to the decrease of the conductivity of the electrode, increase the consumption of electric energy of the electrode, and then shorten the service life of the product;  C, N, 0 and other elements in the electrode will make the glass liquid bubble;  Metallic elements such as Ti, Cu, and Cd color glass.  Therefore, the preparation of high purity molybdenum electrode is particularly important for glass industry.  


The invention relates to a production method of high purity molybdenum electrode with low C and 0 content, and the specific steps are as follows:  

(1) The molybdenum powder with particle size of 2.5um ~ 4.oum and oxygen mass content of 400ppm ~ 600ppm is pressed into molybdenum billet, and then the molybdenum billet is placed in a resistance sintering furnace for pre-sintering under vacuum conditions or hydrogen as a protective atmosphere. The pre-sintering process is as follows:  First from room temperature through 4h to 6h heating pre-sintering to 1200℃, 2h insulation, and then from 1200℃ through LH-2h heating pre-sintering to 1350℃, 2h ~ 4h insulation;  

(2) The pre-sintered molybdenum billet in step (1) is placed in an intermediate frequency induction furnace, and sintered under the condition of hydrogen as a protective atmosphere to obtain molybdenum electrode with quality purity of more than 99.99%. The sintering process is as follows:  First from room temperature through 1h ~ 2h heating sintering to 1500℃, heat preservation 1h ~ 2h, then from 1500℃ through 1h ~ 2h heating sintering to 1750℃, heat preservation 2h ~ 4h, and then from 1750℃ through 1h ~ 2h heating sintering to 1800℃ ~ 1950℃, heat preservation 4h ~ 6h.  


The advantages of this production method include: simple operation, low production cost, high production efficiency, small metal loss, high comprehensive yield, and can easily and quickly produce high purity molybdenum electrode of different specifications;  The prepared product has fine grain and uniform, less defects, flexible and adjustable diameter and large size range.
