what is tantalum capacitor
Tantalum capacitor is called Tantalum electrolytic capacitor, which is also a kind of electrolytic capacitor. Solid tantalum capacitors were first developed by Belle Laboratory in 1956. Tantalum capacitors use tantalum metal as the medium. They do not need to use electrolyte like ordinary electrolytic capacitors, nor do they need to use capacitive paper with aluminium film.Tantalum capacitor refers to: usually its anode is sintered with tantalum metal powder, and its dielectric is tantalum metal oxide film, using solid or liquid electrolyte as cathode to become tantalum capacitor.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Tantalum Capacitors
1. Because there is no electrolyte inside, it is suitable for working at high temperature.
2. Long service life, small size, stable function, high accuracy, excellent performance of high frequency wave filter。
3. Ability to work under extremely severe conditions。
4. Small capacity, higher price than aluminium capacitors, and relatively weak voltage and current resistance.
5. The working voltage has a certain upper limit level.
Application of tantalum capacitors
Tantalum capacitors are not only widely used in military communications, aerospace and other fields, but also widely used in industrial control, film and television equipment, communication instruments and other products.
