Grinding of tungsten alloy shielding parts

Grinding technology is often used in the production of tungsten alloy shielding parts.  Tungsten alloy shielding parts can be used for monochrome beam light gate, drilling, tubular detection of gamma rays, industrial radiation protection, homeland security and border control, cancer treatment, etc.  Tungsten alloy shielding parts used in these fields belong to high precision instrument parts, high precision requirements.  Grinding process can meet its accuracy requirements.  

Radiation Shielding

Grinding is the cutting process of workpiece surface by using high speed rotating grinding wheel and other grinding tools.  Grinding is used to process internal and external cylindrical, conical and flat surfaces of various workpieces, as well as special, complex shaped surfaces such as threads, gears and splines.  

Grinding features

Due to the high hardness of the abrasive grains and the self-sharpening of the abrasive tools, grinding can be used to process a variety of hard materials, such as cemented carbide, high hardness metal and non-metal materials.  Grinding speed refers to the grinding wheel linear speed, generally 30 ~ 35 m/s, more than 45 m/s is called high-speed grinding.  Grinding is usually used for semi-finishing and finishing machining, precision up to IT8 ~ 5 or even higher, the surface roughness of general grinding Ra1.25 ~ 0.16 micron, precision grinding Ra0.16 ~ 0.04 micron, ultra-precision grinding Ra0.04 ~ 0.01 micron, mirror grinding can be up to Ra0.01 micron.  The specific power of grinding (or specific energy consumption, that is, the energy consumed by cutting unit volume of workpiece material) is larger than the general cutting, and the metal cutting rate is smaller than the general cutting. Therefore, before grinding, the workpiece is usually removed by other cutting methods to remove most of the machining allowance, leaving only 0.1 ~ 1 mm or less grinding allowance.  With the development of high efficiency grinding such as slow feed grinding and high speed grinding, parts can be formed directly from blank grinding.  It is also useful for grinding as waste processing, such as grinding the pouring riser of castings, forging flanges and sintered surfaces.
